Step 1: Get the APK file in your Computer:

Download APK File of the App you want to install in your Android device. If the app you want to install is from Android Market, then read the article “How to download APK files from the Google Play Store”.

Step 2: Install the App in your Smartphone:

To install the app using an APK file, you’ll need to allow your Android device to accept apps from Unknown Sources. For this, go to Settings>Applications and check the Unknown Source checkbox. Now, there are two methods of installing an App in a Smartphone by using APK file. Both the methods are explained below:

Method 1: By transferring APK file in your Android device’s memory:

  1. Connect your Android device with your computer via USB drive or any other mean you prefer.
  2. Now transfer the APK file from your computer to your device.
  3. After complete transfer, you can disconnect your device with your computer.
  4. Now using the file manager, find the APK file you transferred in 2nd step from your device.
  5. Tap on the APK file to install it.

Method 2: Using Android SDK and Android USB Drivers:

  1. Download the both Android SDK and Android USB Drives on your computer.
  2. Connect the SDK in your computer with you Smartphone using USB drives.
  3. Now go to Settings>SD Card>Phone Storage and uncheck the USB Storage checkbox.
  4. Now in your computer, open the Command Prompt and type the following command:
    adb install <P>/<N>.apkIn the above command, instead of <P> type the path to the APK files and instead of <N> type the name of the APK file.
  5. Now it’s done! The app is installed in your Smartphone.
